I used to love the look of this character I believe I had his original book at one time. I actually drew a comic about him when I was a kid. I dont know why but I googled him today and found your article. Good stuff and I hope you get the chance to bring 3d Man back to life.

I've been out of the comics scene pretty much since the days that Image & Co. made it nigh impossible to follow a title without taking out a loan from the bank.

I've picked up a title here and there. I managed to compile some Agents of Atlas .cbrs, and I thought the title was done, but apparently not. I'm heading to the comics shop tomorrow!

Re: Pulp and the masculine - we do need to have heroes that we can look up to as examples of "good behavior." It's no coincidence that characters like The Shadow or Doc Savage have endured as have actor icons such as Steve McQueen, Bruce Lee and Clint Eastwood...

You have to join the group, but you should if you're on FB, as it's a pretty neat little endeavor put together by those creative people. Don't know any real artists of note, myself, except one novice who hasn't the fortitude to stick to a schedule. Least not so far.

I try to "pulp up" my work as much I can. I'm co-writing an homage to all things pulp in a project called "The Neon Daze" A noirish tale of blood, guts and brotherhood! It's set on a futuristic environment, but none the less a love letter to those stories of hardboiled heroics. I wish I could link you something but it's in spanish.

The uniform is mostly based on the one worn by Dave O'Brien in the 1942 serial. I designed the new logo based on the Fawcett Comics version.

Our Cap is an amalgamation of the best elements of the radio, serial and 50's television versions, with more contemporary, in-depth (I hope) characterizations.

Hopefully this will be out before the end of the year.
